Dr. Roger W. Meier has been the Student Chapter faculty advisor for most of his 20 years at The University of Memphis. He has been involved with ASCE since his days as a student chapter officer at Virginia Tech in the late 1970s. Dr. Meier is a former president of the ASCE West Tennessee Branch and currently serves as its treasurer. He was named the 1990 Outstanding Young Civil Engineer by the ASCE Mississippi Section and the 2006 Outstanding Engineering Educator by the ASCE Tennessee Section. In 2010, the ASCE Tennessee Section presented Dr. Meier with their highest award, the Daniel S. Barge Distinguished Service Award. In addition to serving ASCE at the local level, Dr. Meier is an Associate Editor of the ASCE Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering and was named Outstanding Editorial Board Member in 2009.
